The recognition across Product, Innovation, and Market categories underscores Sumsub’s AI-powered trust infrastructure as a unified layer for verification, fraud prevention, and compliance operations.

Sumsub, the first AI-powered trust infrastructure for compliance operations at scale, today announced that it was named an Overall Leader in KuppingerCole Analysts’ Leadership Compass for Identity Verification 2026. Sumsub was also recognized as a Product Leader, Innovation Leader, and Market Leader, with the highest placement among vendors in the Innovation Leadership category. The recognition reflects Sumsub’s ability to combine comprehensive identity verification and fraud prevention with continuous AI innovation on a global scale.

Identity verification has evolved rapidly from longstanding manual processes to remote, automated solutions supporting authentication, high-risk transactions, age assurance, and more. This transformation is being driven by growing sophisticated fraud, with multi-step, coordinated attacks surging 180% year-on-year in 2025. As fraudsters increasingly deploy AI agents to orchestrate more autonomous attacks—including deepfakes and synthetic identity documents, initiatives such as the rollout of the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet are also raising the bar for reliable remote and reusable identity.

Against this backdrop, the report highlighted Sumsub’s broad platform capabilities across identity verification, anti-money laundering (AML), and fraud controls, alongside with its rapid delivery of AI-driven product development.

"Sumsub is a Leader in all four ratings of our Identity Verification 2026 Leadership Compass: Overall, Product, Innovation, and Market. The platform combines document, attribute, biometric, and video verification with fraud controls, AML screening, and case management in one orchestration layer,” said Guillaume Teixeron, Senior Analyst, KuppingerCole Analysts. “It stands out for highly automated verification at global scale, with layered defenses against deepfakes and injection attacks. For regulated organizations that verify consumers across many jurisdictions, it is one of the most complete offerings we evaluated."

Key capabilities supporting Sumsub’s leadership position include:

  • Comprehensive verification and compliance: A unified layer for document and biometric verification, non-document verification, reusable KYC, age verification, AML screening, device intelligence, workflow orchestration, case management, and reporting.
  • Global coverage for document and non-document verification: Verify 14,000+ document types across 220+ countries and territories, with Non-Doc Verification in 18+ countries and checks against 100+ authoritative and trusted data sources.
  • Reusable identity with Sumsub ID: Users can securely store and reuse verified information across participating businesses in the Sumsub ecosystem, with consent. With a growing database of 10+ million, Sumsub ID helps reduce repetitive verification for legitimate users and supports faster onboarding.
  • Regulatory assurance: Recertified at the High Level of Confidence under eIDAS 2.0, Sumsub supports high-assurance identity verification and readiness for emerging digital credentials, including EUDI Wallet credentials and mobile driving licences.
  • Layered deepfake detection and device intelligence: Sumsub combines document, biometric, device, behavioral and network signals to identify threats including deepfakes, synthetic documents, and fraud networks.
  • AI-powered compliance operations: Summy AI Copilot, the platform-native AI assistant, accelerates case investigation, reporting, and workflow configuration. Sumsub’s open-source Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration allows AI agents (including Claude and ChatGPT) to have direct access to the platform’s configuration layer. This enables them to automatically generate a fully functional, live Sumsub compliance setup in minutes.

“We are honored to be recognized by KuppingerCole Analysts once again, following Sumsub’s position as an Overall Leader in Fraud Prevention last year,” said Andrew Novoselsky, Chief Product Officer at Sumsub. “This latest recognition reflects a shift in what businesses need from identity verification: not just a way to verify users at onboarding, but a connected system that detects fraud, adapts to emerging risks, and supports compliance throughout the customer journey. At Sumsub, we are continuing to invest in unified trust infrastructure that helps global businesses stay agile and secure as they scale.”
