The collaboration combines Sumsub’s verification capabilities with Jelou’s AI agent infrastructure to connect conversations with customer onboarding processes.
Today Sumsub announced a partnership with Jelou AI to bring identity verification into customer onboarding journeys initiated through WhatsApp. The announcement comes during Mexico Tech Week 2026.
The collaboration brings together Sumsub’s identity verification capabilities and Jelou’s infrastructure for building AI agents connected to companies’ systems and business rules. Its goal is to make a conversation the entry point to a financial relationship: the agent guides the user’s request, initiates the verification process and uses the outcome to determine how to proceed, in line with each institution’s criteria.
For financial services providers, connecting these stages creates an opportunity to bring conversational interactions and identity checks into the same journey. Verification provides information to help move an application forward or refer it for additional review, while the agent coordinates the next steps.
“When a financial application begins with a conversation, identity verification should be part of that journey and provide information to determine how to proceed. Our partnership with Jelou aims to connect verification with the processes guided by its AI agents, in line with each institution’s rules. We want to help companies develop new ways to onboard customers through WhatsApp, combining identity controls with a straightforward user experience,” said Miguel González, Country Manager for Mexico at Sumsub.
Potential applications the companies aim to explore include onboarding journeys for remittances, money transfers and online payments. In these use cases, the collaboration seeks to connect the user’s initial request with the verification required to take the next step.
Jelou provides the infrastructure that enables agents to interact with enterprise systems, data and tools. Sumsub contributes its identity verification capabilities, which are part of a platform that brings together individual and business verification, fraud prevention, ongoing monitoring and risk management.
“AI agents are becoming a new way to access financial services, powered by infrastructure that connects them to each institution’s systems and controls. Identity verification is already part of that infrastructure. With Sumsub, we’re expanding the options companies have to connect identity and onboarding within the same journey, with the goal of optimizing costs and generating a return on their investment in AI,” said Luis Loaiza, CEO and co-founder of Jelou AI.
The partnership addresses a specific need in conversational financial services: connecting the ease of initiating an application with the controls required to establish a customer relationship. The joint effort will focus on linking these stages in line with each institution’s processes and needs.
