HoppyGo teams up with Sumsub to ensure a safe carsharing experience with driver license, identity, and age verification
Sumsub is pleased to announce its collaboration with HoppyGo, a P2P carsharing company founded by Škoda, offering its clients a quick and easy way to rent a car through their mobile app.
By 2025, 43% of European drivers do not plan to own their own vehicle. It is also estimated that 7.5 million cars will be shared in Europe by 2035. Clearly, demand for affordable and flexible mobility will continue to grow, and the data suggests that convenient, affordable, and sustainable mobility will become more and more popular.
As the carsharing sector grows, the need for efficient driver identity checks will only increase. Digital identity fraud is a big issue, particularly for the mobility industry, where insufficient driver checks can create real hazards on the road. According to Sumsub’s internal data, identity fraud in the mobility industry increased by 34% in Germany and by 18% in the UK last quarter. Over the year, from Q2 2022 to Q2 2023, identity fraud rate in the mobility industry in the Czech Republic increased 5.5 times. Meanwhile, in Spain, the overall ID fraud rate in the transportation sector grew above 4% in Q2 2023.
HoppyGo chose Sumsub for KYC (Know Your Customer), age, document verification due to the platform’s smooth user onboarding process, high-quality driver license checks, and strong fraud protection. This collaboration aims to bring HoppyGo’s users more convenience when entering the service, all while ensuring that no underage driver or fraudster gets access to vehicles.
“We are very glad to start working with Sumsub, a leading identity verification platform offering customizable solutions for digital onboarding and fraud prevention. HoppyGo cares so much about drivers’ and owners’ safety and renting experience, and we’re happy to collaborate with the company sharing the same values and adhering to the highest standards. By implementing Sumsub’s solutions, we make sure to provide the smoothest user experience for our growing client base,”says Jakub Erben, Country Manager HoppyGo CZ & SK.
“We are excited about our collaboration with HoppyGo, as the shared mobility industry is one of the priorities for our business development. Our goal is to ensure a safe and easy user experience for HoppyGo’s drivers and owners, and we are happy to contribute to the growth and sustainability of the digital renting sector. To achieve this goal, Sumsub provides extensive facial biometric checks with its AI-powered Liveness solution, along with driver license checks and robust age verification,”adds Andrew Sever, co-founder and CEO of Sumsub.
HoppyGo is a platform where cars are provided by people for people. Using the application, we connect car owners with individuals interested in renting a vehicle. Rather than adding more cars to the streets, we utilize those that would otherwise be parked. People can borrow various types of vehicles here for all occasions – whether it’s for moving, a weekend getaway, or even a date. We provide access to over 2500 cars of different categories and brands, and all cars are always insured. We enable car owners to secure an additional income and get their operating costs covered. In 2022, the HoppyGo platform was ranked 11th among the fastest-growing companies in Central Europe according to the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 rankings. HoppyGo is a proud part of Škoda X, one of the biggest innovators in the field of mobility.
