Compliance Manager at Keytom
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Kelowna, Canada, Keytom is a FINTRAC-registered digital financial platform serving individuals and businesses in Canada and internationally. The platform enables customers to hold, exchange, send, and receive fiat and digital assets, while using payment cards for everyday spending.
The Challenge
Before Sumsub, Keytom relied on several providers for different parts of its verification process. This meant managing multiple integrations and coordinating information across different stages of the customer lifecycle.
As the business grew, this setup created additional manual work and it became more challenging to manage the increasing customer profiles. Keytom needed a more unified approach that could support its growing operations while maintaining its existing controls.

As our business grew, managing identity, business, and transaction checks through separate tools created unnecessary complexity. We needed a more unified approach that could strengthen oversight across the customer lifecycle while making the process easier for our teams to manage.
Why Sumsub
Keytom evaluated providers based on their ability to support KYC, KYB, and KYT within one system. Reliability, user experience, fraud prevention, ease of integration, and the ability to support future growth were key considerations.
Sumsub stood out for combining these capabilities within a single platform while allowing Keytom to maintain the controls required in a regulated environment. The team also saw value in Sumsub’s fraud-prevention capabilities, including features like Liveness, Deepfake Detection, and Device Intelligence, which provide additional signals for identifying identity fraud, suspicious devices, bot activity, and multi-accounting.
For Keytom, the ability to maintain robust verification controls without adding unnecessary friction for legitimate customers was an important factor in the decision.
The Solution
With Sumsub, Keytom brought its identity, business, and transaction checks into a shared workflow covering both onboarding and ongoing monitoring.
The setup also gives Keytom’s teams a shared view of each case. Onboarding specialists can flag specific points, leave comments directly on a case, and notify the monitoring team when further attention is needed. Relevant information remains available as the customer moves from onboarding to ongoing monitoring.
This allows different teams to work from the same information and pass important context between stages, reducing the operational complexity of managing separate systems while maintaining consistent controls.
The Results
Key results:
- 20–30% reduction in time spent handling and coordinating verification cases
- Several hours saved each week for the compliance team
- Reduced operational overhead from managing multiple providers
- Better collaboration between onboarding and monitoring teams
- More capacity for specialists to focus on higher-value review work as customer volumes grow

Thanks to Sumsub, we’ve reduced the time spent handling and coordinating cases by around 20–30%. Our teams spend less time switching between tools and chasing information, and more time focusing on the cases that actually need their attention.
By consolidating workflows, Keytom’s compliance team has reduced time spent moving between tools, reconciling information, and following up across teams. The additional capacity allows specialists to focus more attention on cases that require deeper review, rather than increasing compliance headcount at the same pace as customer volumes.
The change has also improved day-to-day collaboration. With comments, case history, and relevant information available within the same platform, handovers between onboarding and monitoring are more transparent and important context is less likely to be lost between stages.
Future plans
As Keytom expands its products and customer base, the company plans to explore additional Sumsub capabilities across automation, ongoing risk monitoring, and fraud prevention.
The focus will be on maintaining consistent compliance processes as volumes grow, while keeping onboarding efficient for legitimate customers and allowing the team to concentrate manual review on higher-risk cases.
