Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Hong Kong, Reap is a global fintech company building stablecoin-native payments and financial infrastructure for businesses.

Its offerings include stablecoin-enabled corporate cards, card issuing infrastructure (CaaS), cross-border payments and payment APIs, as well as integrated financial operations tools designed to help businesses move money more efficiently and scale globally.

The Challenge

Before Sumsub, Reap used another identity provider, mainly for ID verification as part of its broader KYB onboarding process. While the setup was partially automated, it became increasingly difficult to adapt as the company grew.

Reap needed more flexibility to add new verification features, tailor flows by geography, and adjust checks based on different customer risk profiles. The existing setup made this harder to manage and created more manual work for the compliance team.

As Reap scaled across markets, it became clear that its verification workflows needed to become more modular, automated, and easier to adjust without adding unnecessary operational complexity.

Why Sumsub?

As Reap prepared to scale across more markets and geographies, the team needed a verification partner that could support flexible, market-specific onboarding without adding operational complexity. Sumsub stood out for its ability to provide customizable verification levels and workflow builders, allowing Reap to tailor verification flows by risk profile, market, and use case.

As we scaled into new markets, we needed an industry-leading tool that could support easily tailored verification flows. Sumsub’s custom verification levels and workflow builder gave us the flexibility to adapt onboarding by geography and risk profile without slowing down expansion.

The Solution

Reap uses Sumsub’s KYC for two main verification flows: related persons of business clients during onboarding, and end cardholders as part of its card issuing services.

The main benefits include:

  • A centralized provider for both B2B onboarding and B2C cardholder verification
  • Custom verification levels and workflows tailored by risk profile, market, and use case
  • Configurable fields and country-specific levels that helped unblock expansion into new markets
  • A more flexible setup that allows Reap to adapt verification flows without rebuilding processes from scratch
  • Reusable KYC, reducing the need for repeated verification across partners in the

A key part of the setup is Reusable KYC, which helps reduce the “double KYC” problem for end cardholders, especially across clients already using Sumsub. By allowing verified KYC data to be securely reused across partners in the ecosystem, Reap reduces repeated verification steps, shorten onboarding, and create a smoother experience for users who have already completed checks elsewhere.

Reusable KYC is especially valuable for us because it helps reduce repeated verification for end cardholders across our client base. It allows us to keep onboarding smoother while maintaining the data and controls we need for card issuing.

The Results

Implementation was smooth, supported by clear API documentation and responsive help through Sumsub’s support tickets. This made it easier for Reap to integrate the solution into its existing onboarding setup and adopt it across its verification use cases.

Sumsub enables us to automatically verify end cardholders in seconds, allowing us to scale our card issuance product without compromising on speed.

The biggest impact has been speed. Sumsub enables Reap to verify cardholders automatically in just a few seconds, helping the company scale its card issuing product without slowing down onboarding or adding unnecessary manual review.

Future plans

Reap is continuing to roll out its services across multiple markets, with Sumsub supporting the company’s ability to meet local regulatory requirements as it expands.

The team is also looking to automate more complex onboarding processes for its clients, building on the current setup to support faster, more scalable verification across new markets and use cases.
