What is ongoing monitoring?
Ongoing monitoring is a core part of AML compliance because customer risk does not stop at onboarding. A customer who looked low-risk during initial KYC may later show new behaviors, transaction patterns, profile changes, or screening results that require further review.
In this lesson, you’ll learn how ongoing monitoring helps compliance teams track customer risk over time and respond when something changes. We’ll look at how it supports a risk-based approach through KYC refreshes, sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, customer risk reassessments, and structured escalation.
