With a focus on telecom, software, and finance, Guardarian is a reliable on-ramp for new crypto investors and seasoned enthusiasts.

The Challenge

Since its founding in 2017, Guardarian has witnessed a significant evolution in crypto regulation as the industry has transitioned from the “Wild West” to the mature guidelines we see today. One such crucial development was the introduction of the Travel Rule, initially recommended and later becoming a strict requirement around 2022-2023.

The Travel Rule requires Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) to exchange the personal information of transaction senders and recipients. However, with various players proposing 12 different protocols for Travel Rule compliance, finding the right solution posed a considerable challenge.

Why Sumsub?

We discovered that our long-time partner, Sumsub, was actively working on a solution for the Travel Rule as part of their Transaction Monitoring offering. Having already experienced top-notch service from Sumsub for customer verification, we opted for Sumsub over alternative Travel Rule services.

The Solution

With Sumsub’s Travel Rule solution, Guardarian can automate data transfers with counterparties and ensure worldwide compliance with the latest regulatory requirements.

Implementation

Guardarian initiated the implementation process early, engaging in piloting, stress testing, and collaborative learning. The partnership proved successful, and the solution went live in just a few months.

The Results

Travel Rule data exchange results are seamlessly integrated into Guardarian’s internal compliance toolbox and risk-control engine. This integration empowers Guardarian to offer more secure service while fully complying with regulations.

Future Plans

Guardarian envisions expanding its corporate and licensing presence beyond Europe to serve a broader customer base and introduce new products. Sumsub will continue to play a vital role, providing tools and services contributing to Guardarian’s smooth journey and ongoing success.
