Founded in 2020, Authologic enables businesses to verify users during KYC using government-issued digital IDs, identity wallets, and BankIDs through a single integration. With teams in London, Warsaw, and San Francisco, Authologic supports over 100 customers worldwide, including brands like OKX, eToro, and Santander.
The Challenge
As a platform built around electronic ID verification, Authologic needed a partner that could extend its coverage into regions where eIDs aren’t yet available. The core issue was universality. While many markets support instant eID-based onboarding, others still rely on biometric and document-based methods, and bridging that gap was critical.

In our space, the expectation is seamless coverage. If one user verifies instantly with a digital wallet, another without that infrastructure should still have an equally smooth experience.
To meet this expectation, Authologic sought a verification partner with deep expertise in biometrics and identity document processing.
Why Sumsub?
When Authologic began evaluating verification partners nearly five years ago, Sumsub stood out for its strong reputation in high-compliance sectors like cryptocurrency. While other providers still relied on manual checks, Sumsub offered a fully automated, scalable solution.
What truly set the platform apart was its flexibility. This level of control and transparency made Sumsub the ideal partner to support Authologic’s diverse customer base across regions and regulatory frameworks.
The Solution
Authologic’s integration with Sumsub is designed with user experience at the core. The team uses Sumsub’s API to trigger only the relevant verification types based on user profile and location.
This tailored approach allows Authologic to deliver seamless KYC experiences across markets, whether that means verifying a biometric ID, adapting to country-specific requirements, or applying additional checks for high-risk users.

The multi-level configuration options are incredibly useful. We can fine-tune flows by geography, risk level, or use case. Also, the configuration is very clear and user-friendly!
Implementation
Authologic’s integration with Sumsub was a collaborative and well-supported process where Sumsub provided dedicated engineering support throughout the entire setup.
This hands-on approach ensured a smooth technical rollout and made it easy for Authologic’s clients to adopt the new verification workflows with minimal friction.

Having real engineering support made a difference, and Sumsub’s AI assistant has actually been useful, pointing us to the right documentation while always offering the option to talk to a human when needed.
The Results
Authologic’s verification volumes increased dramatically as the company scaled. Throughout this growth, Sumsub reliably supported document-based verification alongside Authologic’s e-ID flows. The company describes the trend as a “hockey stick” growth curve – a clear sign that the solution is supporting both scalability and adoption across markets.
One unexpected but important win was performance in high-friction regions like China. Document verification in this market is often challenging due to complex character sets, formatting variability, and strict local regulations. Sumsub’s ability to accurately process Chinese IDs, and even support client audits with deep regional expertise, stood out. The platform’s knowledge extended beyond tech, covering cultural nuances like calligraphy and layout standards, which helped build trust and ensure compliance for clients operating in the region.

The performance in China was a real surprise. Sumsub’s solution handles Chinese documentation very well – better than most competitors. What really stood out was their familiarity with local audit requirements, down to specifics like calligraphy and document formatting.
Sumsub sees Authologic as a highly engaged partner pushing for smarter, more flexible KYC solutions. Their feedback has helped shape how the team can improve the product, especially around configurability and use in complex markets.

What’s worked particularly well in this partnership is the level of alignment between our teams. We’re not just integrating technology, we’re continuously exchanging feedback on real client needs and adjusting how things are built and delivered. Looking ahead, the focus is on scaling this collaboration by deepening how Sumsub’s capabilities are used within Authologic’s platform, in a way that supports more complex and evolving use cases.
Future plans
Authologic and Sumsub are focused on scaling both usage and technical depth. The teams plan to continue growing the verification volume while improving the integration of Sumsub’s capabilities into Authologic’s platform. The goal for both teams is to make better use of the API’s features over time, adapting them to client needs and improving how different use cases are handled.
