Altify is a regulated investing platform that gives individuals and advisors access to a range of tokenized private market assets, offering an experience similar to trading stocks. Through its app and web platform, users can invest in a vetted selection of alternative asset classes, including:
- Private Credit
- Cryptocurrency and crypto portfolios
- Stocks and funds
- Commodities
- And other alternative investment products
The platform is built on three core principles:
- Quality: Curated access to vetted investment opportunities
- Access: Low entry points, starting at $100
- Simplicity: A user-friendly interface supported by AI-powered insights and tools
Altify operates across South Africa, Europe, and other regions, with plans to expand into the Middle East.
The Challenge
Before switching to Sumsub, Altify worked with another verification provider. But over time, rising costs and persistent customer support issues led the team to seek out a better fit. As a regulated platform operating across multiple regions, Altify needed a solution that could scale with growth while keeping compliance processes smooth and dependable.
Transparent pricing, responsive support, and flexibility became top priorities in the search. Sumsub stood out not just for its features, but also for its clear onboarding process and easy-to-work-with team. s required a flexible, automated, and risk-based compliance system that could scale with the business.
The Solution
With Sumsub, Altify has been able to streamline its verification process into a largely automated workflow. For all new individual customers, ID and Address Verification checks are handled directly through Sumsub’s system along with Ongoing Monitoring. Once these are successfully completed, the compliance team receives an instant Slack notification, performs a quick manual review, and finalizes the onboarding. This setup has significantly reduced the manual workload without compromising oversight.
Besides ID and Address Verification, Altify also relies on Sumsub’s Travel Rule and Transaction Monitoring features.

Both the Travel Rule solution and Transaction Monitoring are used daily to automatically handle Travel Rule submissions as well as incoming deposits to screen for asset and wallet integrity.
Implementation
Altify’s switch to Sumsub was faster and smoother than expected. The team was able to complete the transition quickly thanks to clear documentation and flexible integration options. Using Sumsub’s Webhooks, React Native SDK, and Web SDK, Altify was able to plug into their existing systems with minimal disruption.
The Results
Switching to Sumsub delivered a tangible improvement to Altify’s customer onboarding. While verification times remained quick, the platform’s first-time approval rate increased by over 17%. This was the key metric, as the higher and more consistent approval rate meant more legitimate customers completed onboarding without needing to resubmit documents, improving the user experience and reducing drop-offs.
This initial success gave the team the confidence to go further. Previously, Altify managed key compliance functions, such as risk scoring, in-house, which added time and operational overhead. After seeing the impact of Sumsub’s automation, the team decided to transition their compliance backend to rely more heavily on Sumsub’s systems. This shift has allowed them to focus more of their resources on developing the investment platform itself, while relying on Sumsub for compliance infrastructure.

The main benefit we have noticed was the ease of integration, which directly increased efficiency. It was incredibly easy to plug directly into our platform.
Future Plans
Following a strong experience with KYC and compliance automation, Altify is now expanding its use of Sumsub’s solutions. Starting November 1, 2025, the company has adopted Sumsub’s Business Verification solution to support business account onboarding. To further improve onboarding and compliance, the team is rolling out phased upgrades, including re-verification for expired documents, automated source-of-funds checks, investor suitability screening, and enhanced due diligence for high-risk users. These upgrades are designed to support Altify’s global expansion.
