U.S. native Cloud brings fintech policy expertise and regulatory leadership to shape global compliance standards.
We have announced the appointment of Kat Cloud as Head of Government Relations. A recognized leader in fintech policy and regulatory affairs, Cloud will spearhead Sumsub’s global government engagement.
Cloud joins Sumsub at a critical moment as the company strengthens its position as a trusted partner to stakeholders across jurisdictions and sectors, such as fintech, crypto, finance, e-commerce, and more. Her appointment signals a renewed commitment to shaping fair and effective compliance frameworks in a fast-changing regulatory environment.
“Kat’s appointment marks a strategic step forward for our work with policymakers globally, including in the U.S.,” said Ilya Brovin, Chief Growth Officer at Sumsub. “She connects regulatory insight with real-world execution, and her leadership will be essential as we continue building trust with users, businesses, and regulators worldwide.”
Prior to joining Sumsub, Cloud served as Principal Director of Open Banking Compliance at Yodlee, where she led critical policy initiatives and built alignment between industry and regulators in multiple global markets. She previously served on the board of the Financial Data Exchange (FDX) and worked at the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), bringing a unique perspective on both U.S. and international regulatory framework. Her experience also includes senior roles at Plaid, a San Francisco-based fintech, and she was recognized in the Women in Fintech Powerlist in both 2020 and 2021 for her influence in shaping inclusive, forward-thinking fintech ecosystems.
In her new role, Cloud will lead Sumsub’s relationships with lawmakers, regulators, and industry coalitions worldwide. She will also serve as a public-facing voice for policy stakeholders seeking clarity on mitigating identity fraud, advancing fraud prevention, and evolving compliance requirements.
“As regulation evolves worldwide, we’re moving from static compliance to dynamic, forward-looking frameworks,” said Kat Cloud, Head of Government Relations. “In my new role, I’ll be working closely with global policymarkets, regulators and institutions such as INTERPOL, MAS, and the FCA to align industry innovation with robust safeguards for identity verification and fraud prevention. In the U.S., initiatives like the GENIUS Act and the upcoming Clarity Act signal a critical shift in how crypto and decentralized finance will be regulated. Sumsub is committed to helping shape these, and other global, frameworks so they match the sophistication of today’s compliance challenges.”
Cloud’s hire also strengthens Sumsub’s commitment to diversity in leadership and public representation, as she becomes one of the company’s most senior executives splitting her time between the U.S. and UK.
