Hunter Biden’s Meme Coin Loses 99% Within Hours

Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP meme coin surged to a price of $190.81 shortly after launching on the Base network before crashing by almost 99% within hours.
The token went live at 8 a.m. ET on September 9. According to blockchain intelligence firm Arkham, its price reached $190.81 two minutes later, giving it a fully diluted valuation of nearly $144 billion. At the time, however, the token’s liquidity pool held only about $48,000.
The price began falling almost immediately. LAPTOP lost around 90% of its value within 30 minutes and was trading near $4.77 an hour after launch. By the afternoon, it had dropped to around $1.97.
LAPTOP’s rapid rise and collapse resembled a classic pump-and-dump pattern, with the token peaking just two minutes after launch before losing around 90% of its value within 30 minutes.
The launch produced sharply different results for traders. One wallet withdrew about $249,800 ahead of the launch, bought more than 9,000 LAPTOP tokens, and sold most of them minutes later for roughly $1.18 million. Another trader spent around $200,000 buying near the peak, with the position worth less than $3,000 an hour later, according to an on-chain tracking website.
LAPTOP was designed around the history of political meme coins. Part of the planned token distribution was reserved for wallets that lost money on Donald Trump’s TRUMP token, which has itself fallen sharply from its 2025 peak.
