UK Police Offer £10K Reward After Crypto Home Invasion

UK charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of people involved in a crypto-focused home invasion in Birmingham.

The attack took place on December 13, 2025, when three men forced their way into a couple’s home in Smith’s Wood, in the Birmingham area. Police say the men demanded that the couple transfer a substantial amount of cryptocurrency, with a fourth person directing the attackers through a video call.

The husband suffered significant injuries during the attack, while his wife, who was pregnant at the time, was threatened with a knife. The attackers also took several high-value watches before leaving in a vehicle believed to be a black BMW X3. Police believe the robbery was planned and targeted.

Crimestoppers launched the appeal more than nine months after the attack and said the reward is available for information provided exclusively to the charity that leads to an arrest and conviction. The organization allows people to provide information anonymously.

The incident is part of an increase in physical attacks targeting crypto holders. Blockchain security firm CertiK recorded 20 home invasions involving crypto in the first half of 2026, accounting for about 41% of the 52 physical crypto attacks it verified during the period. The attacks represented $124.1 million in recorded exposure.

CertiK said the attacks increasingly involve separate roles, with organizers obtaining information and coordinating operations while others carry out the physical attacks. In this case, police say one participant directed the three attackers remotely during the robbery.
