Ask Sumsubers: What is Sumsub’s brand mission and purpose?

Sumsub keeps getting questions from our followers about the specifics of regulatory compliance, verification, automated solutions, and everything in between. We’ve therefore decided to launch a bi-weekly Q&A series, where our legal, tech, and other experts answer your most frequently asked questions. Check out The Sumsuber and our social media every other Thursday for new answers, and don’t forget to ask about the things that interest you. This week, join Vitaly Gribanov, Sumsub’s Brand & Creative Director, as he dives into the mission and purpose behind our brand. Follow this bi-weekly series and submit your own questions to our Instagram and LinkedIn.

At Sumsub, we believe in a people-friendly, safe, accessible, and inclusive digital future for users and businesses alike. By eliminating fraud and verification hurdles, we aim to create a world where anyone—regardless of age, location, or computing skills—can securely access and use any service.

The good old offline world already struggles with issues like lack of inclusion and equality, but the digital world adds new challenges, such as digital illiteracy, AI-powered identity fraud, and a lack of trust between businesses and individuals. As a B2B SaaS provider, Sumsub must identify and tackle these problems because solving them for users will ultimately benefit our clients. The fewer people excluded from the online economy due to verification hurdles or biased identity checks, the more users our clients can successfully onboard!

In our latest research, we decided to dig deeper into the problem of the digital divide. This research is part of a new awareness campaign that introduces the ‘nation’ of Greenflag, representing the 627 million people excluded from online services. Greenflag ‘citizens’ are victims of overly risk-averse business compliance practices and the limitations of existing verification systems, which fail to account for diverse identities and appearances, instead stereotyping individuals based on their nationality’s fraud rates.

Advanced verification technologies are crucial in solving this global problem. We are working to provide the technology that will ensure everyone can access the digital economy, and urge our peers to do the same.
