About the opportunity

We are looking for an attorney who has experience working in a fast-paced environment, can provide practical and solution-based business guidance and be comfortable working on a diverse range of responsibilities. The successful candidate must be comfortable collaborating with business partners worldwide, be well rounded in a variety of legal matters and can synthesize multiple issues quickly in order to support the constantly changing needs of the business.

This position will be a key stakeholder in building out the Legal function at Sumsub.

In this role, you will:

  • Respond to legal requests from Sales, Sales Operations, Marketing, PeopleOps, Engineering, IT and other internal clients and determine the appropriate course of action
  • Draft, analyze and negotiate outbound cloud services agreements (specifically focusing on master subscription agreements) with customers to ensure that they comply with Sumsub’s policies and risk tolerance
  • Draft, analyze and negotiate various partner agreements with Sumsub’s business development, partner and marketing teams
  • Strong familiarity and comfort level negotiating data processing with both existing and new customers and vendors
  • Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of inbound SaaS/software and vendor agreements to support Sumsub’s procurement activities, which include master services agreements, software licensing agreements and other commercial agreements to ensure that they comply with Sumsub’s policies and risk tolerance
  • Work with Finance, Sales Operations and other business teams to ensure approval of relevant terms
  • Assist in the development of playbooks and contract templates
  • Assist with the implementation of an internal contract management system
  • Continuously build relationships with key stakeholders to provide practical legal advice

Your experience & skills:

  • 5-10 years of in-house legal experience for an emerging growth company, with a focus on technology transactions
  • A strong background in commercial contract law, a demonstrated ability to evaluate risk and work on multiple types of contracts simultaneously
  • A thorough understanding of global data privacy requirements (EU, US and other relevant regulations) and applicable security principles as they relate to SaaS based negotiations
  • A track record of managing escalations of critical business and legal issues and resolving accordingly
  • Be able to effectively prioritize and advance multiple transactions happening simultaneously, often on tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail, a sense of passion to support Sumsub’s business and the versatility and confidence to take on challenges that are presented to you
